Job Assessments/Tryouts

In 2008, Cornerstone Service’s staff conducted 256 job try-outs in Joliet and surrounding communities.
What is an assessment?
An assessment could also be called a Job Try-Out.  It is an opportunity for a future job seeker to experience a job in a specific career field.  The individual performs the duties of the job while a Career Solutions staff member observes and assists if necessary.  The assessment is not paid and the individual is not taking the place of any of the employees at the assessment site.
Are there liability issues?
No.  All liability is covered by Cornerstone Services, Inc. for both the individual and the Career Solutions staff accompanying the individual.  There is no risk or obligation to the employer/assessment site.
What are the benefits?
As an employer, you are giving an opportunity to an individual to see and to experience a job in a real-life setting.  The individual benefits by gaining a better understanding of the skills necessary to perform that specific job.  The business benefits by gaining an extra pair of hands for a few hours.
What else?
By agreeing to be an assessment site, you are partnering with an agency that has been serving the Will County area for over 40 years.  You will be assisting individuals with disabilities to explore their vocational interest area.  This is all done with no cost or liability to your company.  You are not obligated to hire an individual who participates in an assessment.  Career Solutions staff is on site with the individual throughout the assessment, so there will be minimal to no interruption of your normal working routine.
